Dollar extends gains vs yen to trade above 96 yen



NEW YORK - The U.S. dollar extended gains against the Japanese yen on Monday as investors continued to react to comments by Japan's vice finance minister Kazuyuki Sugimoto that he was watching foreign exchange market moves carefully. See [ID:nTKF104381].

The dollar rose to a session high of 96.08 yen, according to Reuters data, and was last up 0.8 percent at 95.99 yen.

The euro last traded 0.9 percent higher at 129.59 yen.
