Aussie climbs to 8-mth highs vs dollar, yen

TOKYO - The Australian dollar rose to its highest in eight months against the dollar and the yen on Friday on firm commodity prices and improved investor risk appetite.

The Australian dollar touched $0.7916, its highest since the start of October, and was up 0.7 percent at $0.7898. It rose to 76.38 yen before trading at 76.19, up 0.2 percent on the day.
